The non-district portion of the regular season came to a close Friday for Washington and they kept their unblemished record intact after a 42-20 methodical win at West Liberty (1-3).

Luke Turner was involved in all six Demon scores finishing nine of 18 through the air for 202 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 204 yards and reaching the end zone four times. Ethan Hunt and Zac Stout each had three receptions with one touchdown. Stout had a 28-yard receiving score late in the first half to give the Demons a 21-6 advantage at the break and also had a spectacular one-handed 28-yard grab early in the fourth that set up a Turner score. Head Coach James Harris tells KCII Sports Stout is a gamer. “Zac is a great football player. He is long and does a lot of good things for us. That was a heck of a catch from him tonight. We have a lot of guys that can do big things with the football in their hands and Zac is one of them.” After the Comets cut the deficit to 28-12 early in the fourth, Hunt put the final nail in the coffin catching a first down pass and breaking a few tackles to go 90 yards to the house. The Demon defense held a talented West Liberty backfield to 149 rushing yards.

Washington improves to 4-0 and opens their district play on Friday against 4-0 Keokuk for homecoming.
