The paved road along the Washington and Keokuk County line will soon see some upgrades. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, a contract of $790,000 was awarded for work on V15, or Keokuk-Washington Road. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius said the work has a late start date of April 20th, 2020, “This is for grinding and patching project. Similar work that we did on G36 and the Coppock Road last year. This is for work we’re doing on the Keota Road from Highway 92 north along the county line, skipping work in the town of Keota, then we’ll start back up on the city limits, and then north and then east to the Wellman Road. Work will be some patching to repair some cracked and aged pavement there. And then we will do some grinding to improve the surface smoothness and ride, to minimize the impact loading on that, on the trucks going down the road, and prolong the life of the pavement.”

Four bids were received. The lowest was $790,784.48 with Diamond Surface Inc. of Rogers, Minnesota. The highest bid was more than double the lowest bid.
