Southeast Iowa bragging rights are on the line in Lone Tree tonight, as the Lions welcome Winfield-Mt. Union for an 8-man district 4 showdown.
The Lions (2-3) got some moxie back in the last few weeks taking down district front-runners in New London and Montezuma. The offense broke out in a big way in last week’s 69-63 win over the Braves with 500 yards rushing including 310 coming from quarterback Harmon Miller. The Wolves have the ability to put up some points as well, averaging 41 points a night led by Daunte Oepping with 1,365 yards of total offense. Lone Tree head coach Aaron Bohr tells KCII Sports WMU is much improved. “They have a lot of guys that have made a great leap from junior varsity last year. Their offensive line is definitely better. They are a dangerous team and we have to be ready for them. There are no weeks off in our district, it is just that good.”
The matchup gets underway at 6:30 p.m. this evening in Lone Tree.
