The public will have the chance to meet the Washington Police on Tuesday. The Washington Public Library and the local chapter of the American Association of University Women will be hosting the event. Attendees will meet with the police force and discuss current public safety trends. In May, Jim Lester took the helm as the chief of police following the retirement of Greg Goodman. Lester had previously worked as a sheriff’s deputy and emergency management coordinator in Wright County. He also serves on the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The event begins at 7 p.m. on the second floor of the library.
