WACO football fans might be out of nails to bite by season’s end, as the Warriors had their fifth straight one possession ball game and this time was on the losing end of a 45-42 affair against HLV.

Both teams traded scores in the first half with HLV holding a slight 26-20 advantage at the break. Nik Coble recorded all three touchdowns on the ground rushing from 50, 29, and four yards out. After another Coble rushing score, HLV started to pull away and led 45-28 early in the fourth. The Warriors did not waver and battled back on a 39-yard touchdown pass from Coble to Jaden Williams and one more on the ground by Coble, but came up short in the end. WACO managed 547 yards of total offense to HLV’s 427. The senior finished with an eye-popping 422 yards through the air and 111 on the ground reaching the end zone five times. Jaden Williams was his main target with 15 receptions for 230 yards and a touchdown. Braden Hammond led the defense with five tackles.

WACO drops to 2-4 and gets back on the gridiron Friday at English Valleys.
