The Highland Huskies snapped several dubious streaks Thursday with a sweep of Hillcrest Academy in a Southeast Iowa Superconference volleyball match. The Huskies got the win by scores of 25-12, 25-19 and 26-24. This is Highland’s first victory since a pair of wins on opening night at the Keota tournament August 26th. That snaps a 17 match losing streak. It’s also the first conference win of 2019 for the Huskies, breaking a streak of 18 straight Superconference setbacks that dated back to October of 2018. Hillcrest Academy was led in the match by Yani Gutierrez with eight kills. Norah Yoder had nine assists and Danae McGaffey seven digs. With the win, Highland is now 3-18 as Hillcrest Academy falls to 0-22.
