Playoff dreams are still in the grasp of the Washington football team, but winning out is a must and it starts tonight with a road trip to Fort Madison.

District title hopes took a big hit last Friday in a 35-20 defeat to Solon, but the first RPI rankings released earlier this week looked promising and had the Demons (4-2) at #16. In order to keep rising in the pecking order, Washington will have to keep humming on offense where they average 40 points a game. The Bloodhounds (4-2) are an improved bunch defensively however, as they give up just 19 points a night. Will Larson has thrown for 795 yards and six touchdowns to lead the offense. Demon head coach James Harris tells KCII Sports the Bloodhounds are battle tested. “A big reason why they have turned things around is their ability to win close games. They won against Fairfield last week in a close one and have shown the ability to win tight ballgames. They like to air the ball out, but they also have a big tailback that leads the rushing game.” These two teams have dueled in every year since 2012 with the Demons victorious in everyone.

The battle begins at 7 p.m. this evening in Fort Madison. Listen to the game on FM 106.1 KCII starting at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame show. The KCII Football Friday Preview Show analyzing all Southeast Iowa games will air from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
