Washington County Attorney John Gish will be deployed overseas, as he also serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve. While he is deployed, Gish is voluntarily forfeiting his salary and hiring a temporary prosecutor to serve in his place. Gish was recently selected to deploy with the 311th Sustainment Command in support of its mission in Kuwait. He will serve as the Engineer Officer, providing technical protection guidance for the 311th’s area of operations.
Gish states he is finalizing a plan for the county attorney’s office to continue efficiently in his absence. There are two prosecutors on staff currently. Gish is to report to Fort Hood, Texas on March 8, 2020, and will deploy to Kuwait several weeks later. The Washington County Attorney is expected to return to the courthouse in early 2021.
