The old adage says records are thrown out the window for a rivalry game. That’s the scenario for Washington (5-2) tonight when they travel to face winless Fairfield (0-7) in a game they must win to keep their playoff aspirations alive.

Washington moved up one spot in the RPI rankings to 15th after a 36-7 victory at Fort Madison last week. Demon head coach James Harris tells KCII Sports they are expecting anything and everything from a team that has nothing to lose. “Fairfield plays us tough no matter what. It’s not like we get the comfort of Case Field, we have to go down there and play clean football. We could see any number of things from them. Their line is always big and something that we have to control.” That line includes players that are 330, 275, and 260 pounds. Carter Ferrel has thrown for 829 yards and four touchdowns to lead the offense. These two teams have dueled in every season since 2012 and the Demons have won everyone including a 24-22 affair last year.

The chance for Washington to keep their playoff hopes alive gets started at 7:30 p.m. in Fairfield. Listen to the game on FM 106.1 KCII starting at 7 p.m. The KCII Football Friday Preview Show that analyzing all Southeast Iowa games will air from 6-7 p.m.
