This weekend should be a great time to see the fall colors in southeast Iowa. According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the overall landscape is quickly changing colors from green to yellow, red, and orange. Walnut, cottonwood, black cherry, ash, hickory, and elm trees are starting to turn yellow and drop a few leaves. Maple trees are showing some red and yellow. And reds and purples can be seen in sumac, poison ivy, and dogwoods.
