After two pounds of methamphetamine, two pounds of heroin, and a pound of suspected fentanyl were found in a vehicle three people were arrested in Mt. Pleasant. According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, at 2:03 p.m. the Mt. Pleasant Police stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of North Grand Avenue. The three people in the car were Marco Rubio, Julia Robertson, and Ismeal Montez of Tucson, Arizona. They said they were either headed to St. Louis or Chicago. A K-9 alert on the vehicle for drugs resulted in a search of the vehicle. Officers found the drugs hidden, along with a handgun and some marijuana.

All three were arrested and taken to the Henry County Jail. They were all charged with possession with intent to deliver more than five grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony. The investigation is still ongoing. The Mt. Pleasant Police were assisted by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
