Walk the haunted trails and raise funds for veterans programs at Healing at English River Outfitters (HERO) this weekend. HERO is hosting their annual Halloween event tonight from 5:30-10:30 p.m. Hunt coordinator Rob Tate says there’s a bounce house for kids, and people can see the progress that’s been made on the non-profit’s lodge. The haunted trail takes a different route this year. Tate says children are welcome if they’re able to walk, and they have a system that if children get scared they can lift up their glowsticks and the actors on the trail will leave them be.
He says the funds raised will go toward programs to help veterans, “The funds are being used to help veterans, take them on hunts, get them together for reintegration in society after they’ve got out and been deployed, help them with PTSD, help them stop suicides, get retreats for them to get them away from everything and help them relax, exactly that.” The entrance fee is $5 per person and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. HERO is located at 2564 305th Street, south of Washington about 7 miles off of the Wayland Road.
