The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that it is investing $201 million to improve rural water infrastructure in 31 states. The city of Brighton is one of the communities to receive an award. Brighton will receive a $2,311,000 loan and a $2,000,000 grant. The funds will be used to improve their wastewater treatment system to meet new effluent standards. The city will construct a submerged attached growth reactor system to meet new standards and provide adequate ammonia removal. Improvements to the system will also fix issues with inflow and infiltration.
