A state title is up for grabs for 15 KCII area cross country runners today, as they gear up for the state cross country meet in Fort Dodge.

Washington’s Lance Sobaski will get the day started at 12:30 p.m. with the class 3A boys’ race. The sophomore qualified for the event after placing 13th at districts in Solon last week. The Mid-Prairie girls aim for another state title at 1 p.m. in class 2A and the Golden Hawks’ Jamison Stutzman and Nathan Wallington run at 1:30 p.m. In class 1A Hillcrest Academy’s Leah Bontrager and Highland’s Madison Thomann run at 2 p.m. The two finished sixth and seven at their state-qualifier in Iowa City. On the boys’ side at 2:30 p.m. Winfield-Mt. Union’s Brody Barton, WACO’s Jonah Egli, and Sigourney’s Mason Moore will all compete. Barton placed 14th with Egli right behind in 15th at Iowa City and Moore punched his second trip to Fort Dodge finishing 13th at Marshalltown.
