Several organizations are partnering to work on a laborshed study in Columbus Junction. The Louisa County Development Group, Iowa Workforce Development, and Iowa Economic Authority are coming together to complete an employment review. Their goal is to define which communities contribute to Columbus Junction’s workforce and to measure the availability and characteristics of Columbus Junction area workers. They hope to provide information to local employers and economic development groups about the local labor market, possible expansion and site selection decisions, and information on how to maintain and recruit a high quality workforce. Employers in the Columbus Junction area will be receiving a letter in the mail asking for aggregate counts of their employees’ residential zip codes. Residents will also receive a letter about how to take a confidential survey online on topics like employment status, current and desired wages, current and desired benefits, and education level.
