When the Lone Tree girls basketball team takes the court for the first time next week they will do so with a new coach at the helm.
Ryan Shelman is the new head coach of the Lions, as they look to improve on a 4-16 record last year. Shelman tells KCII Sports fans can expect a more up-tempo brand of basketball this season. “I like to speed the game up with both offense and defense. We like to push tempo and run the floor, but we also like to play hard nose defense. I think this type of play will transition well for this team and our girls are ready to rise to the challenge.” Holley Johnson will be one of the go-to Lions this year, after posting 6.5 points per game last season and leading the team in steals with 34. Madeline Jacque also returns after averaging 5.4 points a night and dishing out 31 assists as a sophomore.
The Lions open the year November 26th at Highland.
