Floats and vehicles draped in lights will roll down Main Street in Washington this Saturday in the 25th Annual Lighted Holiday Parade. Main Street Washington Director Sarah Grunewaldt encourages anyone and everyone to be in the parade, it’s open to individuals, families, service groups, businesses, nonprofits, “We have a group of women who are getting together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote, and they’re going to be marching in the parade this year. We’ve had the Washington Area Soccer Program put together a float before. A boy scout troop had a canoe a couple years ago. We have several churches that participate, and businesses, anybody who wants to put a float together. We’ve had individuals with fancy cars that just want to light their car up and show it off, and join the parade. So anybody who wants to, it’s free to enter. It’s just come, show up, make sure your float is lit and does not have a representation of Santa Claus on it. We ask that Santa closes the parade, not ride in the middle of it.”
To register to be in the parade visit the Main Street Washington office or call 653-3918. The parade will start at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, right after Santa Claus ceremoniously and magically lights the square for the holiday season.
