The Christmas season was ushered into Washington over the weekend with the help of Santa Claus during the annual Showcasing Nights of Washington – SNOW. The annual lighting ceremony was led by Santa. The ceremony was followed by the 25th annual lighted holiday parade organized by Main Street Washington. This year’s parade had 16 entries that included corn stalks made of green and yellow lights, a Model T car, and a live camel and horses with a manger scene. The winner of the 2019 parade is Dream Unlimited Dozing with their Christmas-themed bulldozer. Cub Scout Pack 242 was the runner up with their Christmas Camp Out Under the Starry Sky float.
Holiday festivities continue in downtown Washington this week with the Twilight Shop and Stroll on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and the Candlelight Tour of Homes on Saturday and Sunday.
