The Washington wrestling season officially gets underway tonight when they make a trip to HLV with multiple schools participating.

The Demons lost some key contributors from last winter’s squad including state champion Tristin Westphal-Edwards, but bring back four seniors that will lead the charge including Justin Simmering, Brandon Dickel, Matt Collett, and state qualifier Dillan Sanders. Head Coach Brent Van Weelden tells KCII Sports he likes what he has seen in the preseason. “Every team is different and things are going well as I anticipated. Our numbers are down a little bit, but that hasn’t affected us. We have a pretty solid team this year including some upperclassmen that we look forward to leading the team.”

The season gets underway at 6 p.m. tonight at HLV.
