The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls basketball teams are back on the floor tonight when they travel to Mediapolis. The Hillcrest girls are 1-3 on the year, last time out they fell to Louisa-Muscatine 66-23 with Yani Gutierrez scoring 11 points. On the season the Ravens are led by Esther Hughes scoring 14 points per game. Gutierrez and Meredith Blossom are tied for the team lead with five assists and Sarah Miller has a team best 14 rebounds.

Mediapolis comes into the game with an overall record of 3-0. The Bullettes are ranked No. 12 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. In their last game, a 68-35 win over Highland, MEPO was led by 38 points from Mackenzie Springsteen. On the year, the Bullettes are paced by Springsteen at 21 points per game. Helaina Hillyard  leads the team with 20 assists and Ruthie Jahn has taken down 28 rebounds this year. Mediapolis won both meetings between these two schools a year ago including 62-37 in Kalona and 78-42 at Mediapolis.

The Hillcrest boys are 1-1 so far this season after splitting games with Lone Tree and Louisa-Muscatine last week. In their 60-39 win over the Falcons, Eli Ours led the way with 21 points. Ours is best on the team so far, scoring 25 points per outing. He also is tied with Kobe Borntrager for the team lead with six assists. Borntrager has pulled down 16 rebounds to pace the Ravens.

Mediapolis comes into the game with a matching 1-1 record after a win over Columbus 67-28 and a loss to Highland 61-40. Owen Timmerman leads the Bulldogs this season at 13 points per game. Ryan Ensminger has a team best six assists and Marcus Baker has six rebounds. These two teams met twice a season ago with the Bulldogs sweeping the meetings 66-48 in Kalona and 58-46 at Mediapolis. Action begins tonight at 6p.m. at Mediapolis High School.
