Saturday featured two KCII area boys’ basketball teams in Keota, as the Eagles utilized a big first quarter to propel them to a 75-57 win over Lone Tree.

Keota brought the offense early, jumping out to a 28-17 advantage after one and the Lions were forced to play catch up the rest of the way. It was 42-30 at the break and the lead continued to get steeper in the second half with the Eagles coming out on top. JD Stout had another eye-popping performance dropping 38 points on 14 of 21 shooting including four of eight behind the arc. Carson Sprouse recorded 14 points while Luke Hammen had 11 points and nine boards. Harmon Miller had six three pointers to pace the Lions with 20 points and Keegan Edwards added 13.

The Eagles had an impressive 3-0 first week of the season and they travel to Tri-County tonight. Lone Tree bounced back to beat Morning Star Academy 72-51 last night. The 3-1 Lions are at Louisa-Muscatine this evening.
