Washington County Attorney John Gish also serves in the Army and will be deployed in 2020, so a send-off party has been set. The public is welcome to attend. The party will be 5- 7 p.m. on January 18th at Lebowski’s in Washington. Gish will be deployed to Kuwait and is forfeiting his county salary during his absence from the courthouse. Gifts cannot be received, so Gish is asking that those inclined to give do so by donating to Healing at English River Outfitters (HERO). HERO representatives will also be at the event. The local nonprofit is dedicated to helping veterans and their families by providing rural retreats at no cost to the veterans.
Gish’s last day in office will be in early February. The county attorney’s office currently has two prosecutors on staff and a temporary prosecutor will be hired to serve while Gish is absent. Gish is expected to return to the courthouse in early 2021.
