The Hillcrest Academy boys and girls basketball teams are back in Kalona Friday to take on the Pekin Panthers. The Raven girls come into the game with a 1-4 record on the year. They were beaten Tuesday at No. 12 Mediapolis 75-17 with Yani Gutierrez leading the way at 10 points. On the season the Ravens are led by Gutierrez at 12 points per game. She’s also best on the team with 19 rebounds. Meredith Blossom and Esther Hughes share the team lead with seven assists.

Pekin is 4-0 on the year, their most recent win a 43-37 victory at Highland on Tuesday. Sophie Wittrock led the way with 19 points. On the year the Panthers are led by Wittrock and Emilee Linder each with 13 points per game. Wittrock is also best on the team with 10 assists and Kerrigan Pope has pulled in 35 rebounds. These two teams met twice a season ago with the Panthers sweeping the two games 56-29 in Kalona and 63-47 in Packwood.

The Hillcrest boys enter tonight with a 1-2 record after a 56-52 setback at Mediapolis Tuesday. Eli Ours led the Ravens with 21 points. On the year, Ours is the top scorer at 23 points per game. He and Kobe Borntrager lead the team with six assists each. Borntrager has pulled in a team best 16 rebounds.

Pekin is 3-0 on the year after a 56-43 win over Highland at home on Tuesday. For the year the Panthers are led by Kennan Winn at 12 points per game. He also paces the Panthers with 17 boards and Brady Millikin has eight assists. These two teams met twice a season ago with Pekin getting the sweep 56-46 in Packwood and 55-48 in Kalona.
