The Golden Hawk wrestling team sets its course to the south tonight to take on a couple of Southeast Conference foes on the mat when they travel to Fort Madison to meet the Bloodhounds and Mount Pleasant Panthers. On the year, Mid-Prairie comes in with a 5-3 dual record. Last time they were in dual action they split a triangular in Iowa City, beating Regina and falling to Monticello. Over the weekend at the Colton Allen Memorial Invitational the Hawks finished second as a team crowning five champions on the way including Vinny Bowlin at 160lbs, Cael Garvey at 170lbs, Isaac Boucher at 195lbs, Josh Wallington at 220lbs and Gannon Callahan at 285lbs. The Hawks have one ranked wrestler in their lineup with Isaac Boucher at No. 3 at 195lbs according to thepredicament.com.
Mount Pleasant comes into the meet with a dual record of 0-6 on the year. They were last in action at the Grinnell Tiger duals Saturday where they went 0-3 with losses to Bondurant-Farrar, East Marshall and Grinnell. The Panthers have one ranked wrestler in their lineup with Corbin Broeker standing at No. 10 at 113lbs in class 2A.
Fort Madison comes into the night with an overall record of 4-0. Last time out for the Bloodhounds, they swept a triangular with wins over Wapello and Mediapolis. The Bloodhounds have one ranked wrestler in their lineup with Danen Settles checking in at No. 5 in class 3A at 285lbs. Last year the Bloodhounds beat the Hawks 51-24 in dual action.
First matches get underway tonight at 6p.m. at Fort Madison High School.
