After the calendar turns to 2020, residents are invited to Lake Darling to begin the new year with a new adventure. The First Day Hike will be held at Lake Darling State Park at 8 a.m. New Year’s Day.  Participants will meet at the Lake Darling Lodge and hike the Ding Darling Interpretive Pathway. There are easy and moderate trail options available. Total length of the hike is estimated to be between two to three miles. Hot chocolate and coffee will be provided and you are advised to dress for the weather. The hike at Lake Darling is one of 49 scheduled around Iowa on New Year’s Day as part of an initiative from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to promote starting the year outdoors.
