Those who don’t want to stay up until midnight to ring in the new year have an alternate option in Washington. The Washington Public Library is again hosting a “Noon Year’s Eve Party.” Librarian Jenisa Harris says the family-friendly event includes music, crafts, treats, a countdown and a balloon drop at noon. Harris says it’s a nice way for younger children to be included in the holiday, “It’s a great way for kids to have a fun activity to do and not stay up super late. And if parents are going out that night, they still have some quality time with their kids on New Year’s Eve.”

Last year approximately 100 people attended. Parents, grandparents, and babysitters all brought little ones to the event. The event begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday. No registration is required. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult.
