Those looking for a new hobby in the new year, or with a resolution to be more creative, may find that outlet at the Washington Public Library’s Sticks and Strings group. The group has fiber artists bring their projects once a month including knitting and crocheting. Washington Public Library Director Bryna Walker shares they take part in public art displays, “They make some cool things around the square. If you’ve seen any knitting or crocheting around the square that is very colorful and adds to our square, that’s the result of this group.” It’s open to all skill levels and ages. They meet the first Friday of the month at the library at 7 p.m., including this Friday, January 3rd. Another public art display will be featured next month at the library for Fiber Arts February. This year’s theme will be “Things that Creep, Crawl, and Climb.” People who have created fiber creatures who would like to display them can drop them off at the library with librarian LeAnn Kunz.
