The Community Foundation of Washington County has organized a new endowment to celebrate the life and work of a county community member. Mike Orris, who passed away in the summer of 2019, is being remembered by his family and friends through an endowment in his name. This will be a scholarship administered through the fair board. Mille Youngquist shares information about Orris and how someone can contribute. “Many Washington residents will be familiar with Mike Orris who passed way this summer. Mike was a veteran, and had been a member of the Washington County Fair Board for 58 years. His family is honoring and remembering his legacy by establishing an endowment for a scholarship administered through the fair board in his name. Because this has already been established, anyone who wishes to add to this fund can do so by writing a check payable to the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, in the memo line of the check write Mike Orris Memorial Scholarship Fund, and you can send this check to me, Millie Youngquist, Executive Director, Community Foundation of Washington County with the address 831 S. 13th Avenue in Washington.”
