The year 2020 got started off right for the WACO basketball teams, as they opened the second half of the season with close wins against New London.

The Warrior girls got out to a 15-7 advantage after one and held serve the rest of the way to seize a 55-47 victory. Maysan Lee broke out offensively with 19 points to lead all scorers, Ellah Kissell had 16, and Morgan Graber was also in double figures with 13.

The boys had to sweat it out, but they hung on for a tight 55-53 win to stay unbeaten on the season. WACO led 28-19 at the break and it was stretched to double digits at the start of the fourth before a Tiger comeback fell short. Drew Kissell went off for 18 points for the Warriors, Pietro Vannini chipped in with 11, and Braden Hammond recorded 10.

The girls are now 2-8 and the boys improve to 9-0. Both teams travel to Burlington Notre Dame on Tuesday.
