The Night to Shine will be in Washington next month, one of 700 locations worldwide to host the event. The Tim Tebow Foundation sponsors the proms for people with special needs and they will all be held the same night, February 7th. Every attendee will have a designated buddy for the evening.
Organizer Ann Williams says the night is full of face painting, dinner, dancing, karaoke, limo rides around town for guests, with the highlight being, “Our special event is the crowning. And that is everyone that comes as a guest is crowned either with a tiara or a crown. And it brings tears to your eyes because they are so excited. We want them to know they are loved, so we pour out our love on them and just pamper them for the whole evening.” Every guest enters on a red carpet and receives the royal treatment.
Registration is currently open for people 14-years old and older with special needs. Williams tells KCII News that they’ve had attendees from across southeast Iowa and some from Illinois in years past. Volunteers are needed to be buddies, decorators, servers, and help clean up. Night to Shine will be held February 7th from 6-9 p.m. at the KC Hall in Washington.
A training for volunteers is being held tonight (1/21) at 6:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church.
