A wintry mix is expected as a winter storm develops over the Central Plains and tracks to the Northeast. According to the National Weather Service, a mixture of precipitation types will occur in the Midwest as warm and moist air from the south meets with existing cold air. The NWS says that in Iowa the storm may generate a two-day snowfall total of up to six inches in some locations. On Friday, one to three inches of snow is expected throughout the day.
