Waverly-Shellrock High School is set for a showcase this weekend hosting the girls state wrestling meet. This event is produced by the Iowa Coaches and Officials Association. They are expecting 380 girls to be on the mat vying for a state title. Mid-Prairie will be sending five wrestlers. Golden Hawk Rylee Vercande is a veteran of this meet, placing on the podium a season ago in fifth place with a 4-1 record at the tournament. This year she comes in ranked No. 7 in the latest poll from iawrestle.com at 126lbs, she will be wrestling in the 120lb weight class. She has a 9-8 record on the season.

Mid-Prairie will also send Mia Garvey at 120lbs. She has a 3-10 record this year. Caitlyn Busch will be on the mat at 138lbs, she has a 1-4 record coming in. Madison Kelly will compete at 145lbs she comes into the meet with a 1-9 record while Sarah Meader will wrestle 152. She sports a 4-4 record entering the meet. Action begins Friday at continues into the weekend in Waverly.
