The Hillcrest boys and girls basketball teams will play for the second straight night on the road Friday when they travel to Pekin for a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader with the Panthers. The Hillcrest girls come into the game with a 1-13 overall record after dropping their game Thursday to L-M 58-22. Esther Hughes led the way in the loss with a career high 20 points. On the season the Ravens are led by Yani Gutierrez at 10 points per game. She is also the team leader with 16 assists and 68 rebounds.

Pekin comes into the contest with an overall record of 9-3. Last time out the Panthers beat Highland on Tuesday 56-31 with Kerrigan Pope scoring 22 points. Pope leads the way this year at 13 points per game. Erika Coleman has a team best 80 rebounds while Sophie Wittrock has the team lead with 43 steals and 36 assists. These two teams met earlier in the year in Kalona with the Panthers taking a 56-12 win.

The Hillcrest boys are back to .500 on the season at 6-6 after a 64-43 win at Louisa-Muscatine on Tuesday. The Ravens were led in the victory by 19 points from Kobe Borntrager. On the year Eli Ours paces the Ravens scoring 18 points per game. He is also the team leader with 41 assists. Borntrager is the leader on the glass with 74 rebounds.

Pekin comes into the game with an overall mark of 9-3. Last time out the Panthers beat Highland 62-53 behind 21 points from Brady Millikin. On the season Pekin is led by Millikin at 11 points per game. He’s also the team leader with 66 assists and 33 steals. On the glass it’s Kennan Winn with 103 boards. The Ravens beat the Panthers earlier this year in Kalona 68-54 behind 27 from Eli Ours.
