The Mid-Prairie speech team saw great success this past weekend at the district contest. From the ten events they brought, eight received I ratings and will be performed at the state contest. Those events include: Group Improv, Ensemble Acting, Musical Theatre, Readers Theatre, and One Act Play. Christine Meader, The Speech Head Coach, shared with KCII the excitement that filled the air when her students received I ratings, “Well it’s pretty typical that there is a lot of cheering and celebration when the results are posted on the wall. The cool thing is the other schools will also join in and applaud whenever anybody kind of jumps up and down excited. There’s a real spirit of we’re all in this together at the speech competition.” The students will travel to Cedar Rapids Washington High School on February 8th for the state contest.
