A thrift store in Lone Tree, featuring the contagious affection of one Lone Tree High School senior, is set to open up once again this Saturday. Ayden Ohly is a 17-year-old  with Autism, but is proving that his disability is in fact his biggest strength. His mother, Michelle Ohly, wanted to help Ayden learn life skills before he graduates this spring, and thus Ayden’s Closet was born, “I’ve been looking for something for him, to give him an opportunity outside the school to learn some different functional skills, working socially, everything. And a customer of mine, we got to talking, and she mentioned something about she had started in her church and she did it to help some of the people in the church. She had clothing there for them and people could donate it at any point, and then people could come down and get it whenever they needed it. It really was a lightbulb for me and I just thought we could do it, and I thought this was something we could do within our community and we could give back as well.” The thrift shop opened up for the first time in October of 2019 and will open again this Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Community members are able to purchase clothing and other items, as well as donate any gently used or brand new items. All the proceeds help fund special education at Lone Tree and the community center the shop operates in.
