The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team opens up their postseason with the sectional tournament Saturday at Williamsburg High School. The Hawks are coming off of a sixth place finish at the River Valley Conference tournament, out of 14 teams. The Golden Hawks sent five to the semifinals in the tourney and two through the championship round with Cael Garvey at 160lbs and Gannon Callahan at 285lbs, both finishing runner-up. The Hawks enter action today as one of six teams in the field. They have one ranked wrestler in their lineup with Isaac Boucher at No. 8 at 195lbs.

The field at Williamsburg has a total of seven ranked wrestlers. The Golden Hawks will face grapplers from Williamsburg, Vinton-Shellsburg, Mount Vernon, Benton, and Center Point Urbana. Any wrestler or team that places in the top two at competition today will advance to next Saturday’s district meet at Center Point-Urbana. Action begins today at noon at Williamsburg High School.
