Davenport Assumption was the location for Columbus Community/WMU’s wrestling sectional on Saturday and four Wildcats cracked the top two to move on.
Lane Scorpil stayed undefeated on the season by pinning both of his opponents in a combined 7:56 to claim a title at 106 lbs. Chance Malone also took home top honors at 195 lbs by getting the pin in his first match in 4:51 and then winning by a 4-2 sudden victory in the championship. Noah Freeman placed second at 170 lbs to advance and Seth Schurr was runner-up at 285 lbs. Other notable performances included Robert Loveless third at 182 lbs and Brody Barton fourth at 120 lbs. The Wildcats placed fifth as a team out of six with a score of 137 points while Davenport Assumption claimed the crown with 241.
The four individuals advance to Saturday’s class 2A district in Washington.
