A familiar face is headed back to the state wrestling tournament in Des Moines for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks. Out of the toughest class 2A district meet in the state, Mid-Prairie senior Isaac Boucher emerged to advance to Des Moines for the second straight season. Boucher was one of six Golden Hawks on the mat Saturday at Center Point Urbana High School. In the 195lb weight class he opened with a 15-4 major decision victory over Lane Stender of Maquoketa, using late back points to put the game away. Battling illness all week, Boucher medically forfeited out of the championship match at the weight class, leaving him with a match for second place he had to win to advance to state and continue his career. He did it. Boucher dominated Clark Younggreen of Mount Vernon, pinning the Mustang to claim the runner-up spot.

Other Golden Hawks at the tournament on the day included Mason Hartley at 145. Hartley, another senior finished his career at the district meet, dropping matches to Jadyn Peyton of West Delaware and Kam Royster of Williamsburg.

At 152, junior Vinnie Bowlin saw his season come to an end, opening with a loss to Alex Casey of Anamosa before rebounding to beat Gable Dayton of Williamsburg. In the wrestleback round, Bowlin was beaten by Kyle Cole of West Delaware.

At 160, sophomore Cael Garvey opened with a loss to Cael Meyer of West Delaware, bounced back to beat Riley Holt of Williamsburg but ultimately lost to Nathan Keating of Anamosa.
