The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team saw their season come to an end Thursday in Camanche against the No. 5 ranked Indians 87-42. Each team scored a basket in the first minute of the contest but Camanche went on a 12-0 run after that to take a dozen point lead. The Indians would stretch that lead to as many as 16 midway through the first half on five of six three point shooting to start the game. The Golden Hawks cut the lead to nine on three pointers from Brody Miller and Jacob Nonnenmann but the Indians withstood the run and stretched their lead to 48-28 at the half. The Indians won the third quarter 20-14 and put together a 17-2 run that lasted the entire fourth quarter to enact the continuous clock and seal the victory. After the game, Mid-Prairie head coach Daren Lambert gave credit to Camanche and talked about his seniors. “We shifted from what we normally do. We wanted to go zone and make them shoot over the top of us. They knocked them down and forced us to go back to man. You have to tip your hat to Camanche they are a really good team, especially in this gym. It’s tough to say goodbye to this senior class. It’s the worst night of the year for any coach. You love them to death. It’s come through early mornings in the weight room, time in the gym, practices over Thanksgiving and Christmas break and the time that they have put in. We are grateful for them and the foundation they have helped us build for this program. We are proud of the men they have become and I hope that they can take something from their time in basketball with them as they move on and become successful in the future.”

Eleven different Indians scored in the game led by LJ Henderson and Caleb Delzell each with 13 points. Mid-Prairie was led by Brody Miller and Chris Miller each with nine. The Hawks see their five game winning streak come to an end and wrap up their season with an 8-14 overall record. They lose a group of seven seniors, Brad Tornow, Chris Miller, Jacob Nonnenmann, Abe Bender, Brody Miller, Jack Baker and Logan Harmsen to graduation.
