The sounds of classic rock and modern pop hits filled the Washington Public Library on Thursday thanks to local students. The Highland High School pep band performed hits such as Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”, Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, and The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army”. Band director Mark Bressler provided his students a unique opportunity to direct each song. While Bressler played the trumpet for the concert, various students took control and conducted the songs. Bressler says even though the students didn’t write the songs, they were given an opportunity to lead a group of their peers and see what it takes to conduct music.
