Scoring 57 points is no easy feat for any high school basketball team to achieve on a given night. To have just two players combine for that scoring output is borderline absurd. That was the case for Lone Tree senior guards Harmon Miller and Keegan Edwards on Thursday, as all of their combined 57 points were needed for the Lions boys to hold off Calamus-Wheatland 73-72 in a first round class 1A district game.

The Lions were methodical for much of the contest, leading 11-9 after one and 32-27 at the break. The advantage grew to 10 at the end of three when the Warriors started to get hot. They broke out for 33 points in the final eight minutes and took the lead in the final minute. With seconds remaining Miller went to the line and calmly sunk both free throws to seal the win. The senior finished with 29 points on nine of 14 shooting including hitting four shots from deep. It was another day at the office for the triple-double machine that is Edwards. The 6’2’’ senior tallied 28 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and five steals. The Lions connected on 16 of 23 from the free throw line and assisted on 17 of 24 field goals.

Lone Tree improves to 14-9 and advance to the district semifinal in Riverside on Tuesday against Springville.
