The Kalona City Council will allow citizens and board members to comment on future sidewalk projects in a work session. The council conducted a city-wide survey in October and will release the results from the survey at the work session set for Monday, March 2nd. Citizens and council members can weigh in on what sidewalks they feel need the most attention. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh tells KCII News how large this project could become, “It’s pretty daunting with respect to everywhere and everything. So if there’s certain areas, or there’s certain timeframes and what’s really important to them (the public), whether it’s improve our existing inventory, to remove and replace some connector streets to connect to the park better, connect to the schools and the elementary better. That’s what we really want to discuss and hopefully get a little clarification from the public and the council, as to what they want to see. And they can direct us and help us to move forward with that for the foreseeable future and long term.” The council will hold this work session starting at 6 p.m. at the Kalona Community Center.
