Jeremy Peck will be the director of the newly developed Washington County Ambulance Services. He’ll be the director of the county department and was approved to do so on a vote of 4-1 by the Washington County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Abe Miller explained his lone nay vote, “I know I voted no to hire him, I just wanted to make sure everybody understood why. And that was because, and it’s my opinion, and that was I felt the starting pay and the benefit package was out of line for somebody to start. A benefit package of $85,000 annually.” Plus benefits including vacation and sick time.

The plan is to have Peck transition into the position starting in a part-time role on March 2nd and then full time on March 23rd. He’s from Wellman and has been an assistant director with Johnson County Ambulance. The current ambulance contract ends on June 30th, and the new county-run department will take over July 1st.
