An ambulance services organizational committee has been formed to help the newly hired director establish the Washington County Ambulance Services Department. At Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board unanimously approved creating the committee to assist Jeremy Peck. The members of the committee are Chief Deputy Shawn Ellingson, Emergency Management Coordinator Marissa Reisen, Human Resources Director Amber Day, and Supervisor Richard Young.
Young said the committee will help Peck, “I had a long discussion with Jeremy [Peck] last night and he is looking for direction because thing about how the policy is, county policy, different things. So he is looking for some direction to help him get this started. And we have got to stay on task because we all know time is getting short, getting everything done with the state, getting contracts with insurance companies and Medicare. I think it’s a good thing so we know what’s going on.” Peck is currently working part time as he transitions from working as an assistant ambulance director in Johnson County. He will be full time in Washington County starting March 23rd.
Supervisor Chairman Jack Seward said that once the department is up and running, then Peck will provide quarterly reports in a similar fashion as other department directors. No discussion of equipment or facilities was had.
The current ambulance contract expires at midnight June 30th and the goal is to have the county department in place to take over at July 1st.
