In Iowa, there is currently no known community spread of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. The Iowa Department of Public Health is not recommending to cancel planned events or any mass gatherings at this time. IDPH Medical Director Dr. Caitlin Pedati states there are no recommendations currently to cancel events in Iowa, although she advises it is a fluid situation and the public should monitor updates for guidance.
The Centers for Disease Control has advised that older adults and those with chronic health conditions to stay away from others who are sick, limit close contact with others, avoid crowds, and wash hands often. The IDPH states that the situation related to COVID-19 is changing rapidly and continued updated information will be released by the IDPH and CDC.
