The Mid-Prairie School Board approved a motion to postpone the fine arts trip to New York. This five-day trip happens every four years and was scheduled to happen over spring break. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Superintendent Mark Schneider brought this up to the board for discussion and the motion was approved 5-1 to postpone the trip to a later date in the school year. Schneider tells KCII News there is hope for this trip to happen yet this school year, “For four years this group (the band and choir) has been raising funds to pay this off and they have always gone through a travel agency that has been the same agency. The agency has been very understanding and is willing to work with our group and hopefully we can get it pulled off.” This postponement will affect 65 students and a number of adult supervisors. This trip costs each student an estimated $1,200. New dates for the trip are being discussed among the band and choir teachers and parents via a survey that was sent out this week.
