The City of Columbus Junction recently came across issues while testing their severe weather sirens. Last Tuesday, while testing the four sirens in Columbus Junction, Columbus City, and Fredonia, Public Works Official Todd Salazar noticed the siren at the high school was not sounding. After further inspection, he found the charger that charges the four marine style batteries had failed. Salazar says the other sirens went off with no issue. The City of Columbus Junction put out a statement saying the issue was fixed and said this is one reason tornado sirens are tested before severe weather happens. The statewide tornado drill is scheduled for March 25th and KCII Radio will be participating in the event.
