A Brighton woman was arrested after someone saw people cutting locks off of storage units and then led authorities on a chase. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 9:14 a.m. Thursday, a caller told authorities that they saw three people cutting off locks at a storage unit in Crawfordsville. A Washington County Sheriff’s deputy responded and requested additional units. Eight additional units responded from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Police, and Iowa State Patrol. Speeds reached 90 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. The pursuit ended in Henry County.
Officers arrested 30-year-old Ashlee Ann Weimer. She already had four warrants out of Washington County including for failure to appear for criminal mischief and probation violations with bond totaling $12,000. New charges from Thursday include operating while intoxicated, felony eluding, interference with official acts, reckless driving, speeding, failure to yield, failure to maintain control, interference with official acts, and operating without owner’s consent. She was taken to the Washington County Jail.
No other arrests were reported in relation to the incident.
