Training continues at Ft. Hood, Texas, for Washington County Attorney John Gish who also serves as a Major in the Army Reserve. In correspondence with KCII News on Saturday, Gish says the 311th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) has not experienced degradation in the readiness of the unit. He says that they conduct realistic and required mobilization training daily while prioritizing the health of the force. He adds that in the last week COVID-19 has presented a “complex and dynamic set of challenges for our organization but our leaders are taking the right steps and implementing CDC guidance to protect the force.” Gish says that the unit understands they can make a difference at their level and they continue to receive updates while staying mission focused. Gish writes that he is grateful for the support from Washington County and says he couldn’t be more proud of his fellow soldiers at a challenging time, “Responding during times of crisis is what the U.S. Army does best!”
Gish reported to Ft. Hood earlier in March and after training is expected to deploy to Kuwait for approximately one year. In his absence from the Courthouse, Anthony Janney is leading the department on a temporary basis.
