The City of Winfield brought a fun twist to scavenger hunts while children are at home due to COVID-19. It all started when Winfield-Mount Union Paraprofessional Jill Townsley put out the call for Winfield to create a “bear hunt” for kids in the community. The bear hunt would have kids search far and wide for stuffed bears and animals in store windows, houses, and more around the community. Soon enough, families and businesses were loving the idea and made it a reality. Trisha Waterman took her 4-year-old son Charlie to find these bears and tells KCII News her reactions to the community’s togetherness, “It was just neat to see so many people who didn’t even have kids be involved and just do nothing other than put a bear in their window to make a kid smile with no sort of return on investment. So that was really neat.” Charlie said his favorite bear he found was the one at the library which was reading a book.
